  • make any necssary changes to config file in /opt/etc/mt-daapd/mt-daapd.conf
  • start daemon: /opt/etc/init.d/S60mt-daapd
  • log file: /var/log/mt-daapd.log

got it to work, after

  • chmod o+r –R /share/hdd/data/p1401/mp3
  • /opt/etc/init.d/S60mt-daapd
  • restart iTunes on PC, found directory mt-daapd right under Music Stations (only two times, not reliable) – works: VPN connection

set up iTunes remote access (for Windows)

Following the suggestion from Turbocharged5 (NSLU2 expert user group in yahoo). Here is the detailed desription WindowsiTunesSetup.

How to use iTunes (after everything is installed):

  - Start putty session with port 3869 forwarding through SSH. The putty session has to be opened all the time.
  - Start RendevousProxy with _daap._tcp service
  - Run iTunes (and be patient)

set up uTunes remote access for MAC (not used)

works only for MAC machines http://forums.macosxhints.com/showpost.php?p=86866&postcount=5

  • AT HOME:
  • Turn on 'Remote Login' in Sharing prefs
  • Make sure OS X firewall has port 22 open (so you can SSH to this machine) in Sharing prefs

I also opened port 3689 so I could share with the other machines at home On your internet router, make sure ports 22 and 3689 are forwarded to this computer's local IP
